Our Trip to Mazatlan

Well we have arrived in Mazatlan Mexico for our 5 month + stay for the winter, the drive was good and the weather was really nice as no snow or rain this year.
We left Sundre on October 8th headed for Calgary to spend a few days with Darla's sister Deb before heading on to Trail on the 11th to see Bryce, Kaitlyn, Riley, Briella and Gord for Thanksgiving and a great 2 week stay. We again celebrated Dars birthday with them and the girls helped make her favourite cake a Hawaiian carrot cake, it was an extra special one as she turned the big 65.

We then left on the 27th headed for Yuma Arizona to see our friends Brian and Glenda, we visited with then for a day and half and then on to Nogales on the 29th. We crossed the border early on the morning of the 30th and headed for Klm 21 where we get out TIP for the car and FMM for the stay of up to 180 days. The process was relatively quick and we met four other couples also heading for the halfway stop for the night Navojoa, approx. 6 hour drive from Nogales. we all met up the next morning Nov.1st and headed out for the 5 1/2 hour drive to Mazatlan. This was the most nervous part of the drive as with the Cartels having a squabble it was more comfortable driving in a caravan. The drive was smooth with no issues we did get pulled in on one of the four stop checks and kind of searched but was more a curtesy search than anything as they just wanted to see our documents and how much money we had took about 2 minutes and we were on our way.

The dogs were so good on the trip and Junior really did well as did not have to give him any calming pills as he just slept till we slowed down or stopped for gas.
We have settled in to our winter home and mostly gotten everything put away still a little cleaning up to do but no rush to get it done. Was good to see our building manager Nadine and our Security Guard Max as they had been asking our Landlord when we were coming back, think they were looking for Cookies so i guess i need to get baking to keep them happy.
We went for a stroll on the beach the yesterday and the dogs had a blast Mink ran like he had been caged for a month then remembered crap its 30 degrees out and stopped and just walked the rest of the way, Junior looked at the birds this year but had no interest to stalk them and put the run to them but he did keep an eye on them just in case.

Ok Now the Year is Gone WTH

Ok i thought our first month went by fast now it is 2 months and December seemed to go by even faster than November. Where to start as it was a very busy month and January is shaping up to be twice as busy. As per usual we were playing Pickle ball 3 times a week and of course golfing 3 times as well. Some of our PB friends arrived in December and a few more to Arrive in January, still very quite here as so many snow birders never came this year due to the family squabble going on in Culiacan and area. Baseball was on the schedule 3 times for us in December and we were blessed with some good ball and 3 wins, the team can make the playoffs if they win the last 3 road games as they have been hovering around 6-8 in the division, i say Hah Ha Hah but you never know stranger things have happened but they are playing one of the top teams in the division. First Month Done Where did it go

Wow were did the first month go already, I am pretty sure the warm weather makes the time fly by but still hard to believe November is at the end already. The weather has been pretty much the same week in week out, between 26-29 with a few days in the low 30's i am loving it and Dar has been enjoying it as well mind you she would probably prefer it to be more like 24 and 26-27 on the high side. Junior has settled into his Mexican routine sleep get up go to the pen ( Dog Run ) for the morning constitution or for a walk come home eat have a siesta or 3 then have supper out for another walk or trip to Pen couple more siestas one final trip late at night then sleep, i want his life. Mink she is like Dar i have my fur coat on can you turn the heat down and put the AC on, or looks at you with those puppy eyes and says can we have a beach day today. January into Frio February

 January to Frio February  Another two months have past us by and soon we will be getting ready to start packing the car up for the journey back home.  January was a cool month as winter seems to have come early this year as even us tough northerners are complaining of the cool nights and windy not real hot days. Each morning the temps are between 10-15 celcius and day times the high is like 21-25 so decent in the daytime just not super warm. The afternoons get windy and gust to 20-30 klm per hour and last into the early evenings and sometmes till 10:30-11, but it is still better than back home. New Year fireworks were pretty good but think last years were better.We stayed at our place this year and enjoyed some nice appetisers beverages and Lasagna dinner then we enjoyed the 30 year old port we broght down with us and it was awesome.
