Thanks Giving to late October, Its that time of the year again Mazatlan Bound
Boy oh Boy the summer flew by felt like we just got home and unpacked trailer opened up and we were winterizing and getting ready to head out again.
Well we left Sundre on October the 3rd and Headed to Airdrie to visit with Dar's sister and brother in law for 5 days. We celebrated Thanks Giving early again at Dar's nephew's and wife and had a great Turkey dinner, was nice having a big dinner with all the nieces nephews and family on the Colhoun side. Thanks again Cory, Trish and Deb for being the hosts. Then on Wednesday the 8th we headed to our good friends for many many years Lorie and Vaughn's to spend a couple days with them, was so good to see them again as with everyone you just get going and busy and soon a year or two passes but had some great laughs and reminiscing. We ran into some car issues when we got to Lorie and V Man's as they had a new driveway put in and kidding he said is you car leaking oil don't want oil spots or a slick, laughed and said no. Just to make sure i went out to check and much to my surprise there was a small pool and several drops under the car so quickly pulled if off and onto the street and took a look and sure enough the underside was coated and dripping in oil. Luckily there was a Ford dealer right behind the house so took it over to them and they were very good on getting it in and looking at the issue. Turns out the oil filter had a couple pin holes in it and was leaking pretty bad, they washed up the under carriage for us did a oil change and new filter and we were good to go.
It was off the Trail to see Bryce, Kait and the kids for a couple weeks as is the tradition since we retired and became free loading snowbirds lol. Weather was fantastic as usual warm and sunny so no complaints there. One of the other traditions while visiting is to have a brisket and boy sure turned out nice again this year, getting close to getting a smoker but probably not lol.
We left Bryce and Kait's on the 28th and headed out on the drive to Mazatlan, this year was a bit different and was not sure what to expect on the drive with all the shenanigans going on in both the US and Mexico but it was a very smooth drive all in all as arrived in Mazatlan on Nov.2nd. The last leg of the drive from Navojoa to Mazatlan is always the most stressful as the one FGR stop is always a search and we were not disappointed again this year everything was smooth and after 3-5 minutes we were on our way again.
One of our favorite places to spend a day at the beach is stone island and we managed to fit that in with Tim and Sue, weather was perfect and the food amazing as always. The bocce is always a hit with the locals as we always let them try and they are so much fun to watch as they learn how to play it. Our waiter gets in a few tosses between serving tables as Sue and Tim left them a set of Bocce balls to practice all summer.
When we finally arrived in Maz and it was smoking warm still not as bad as the 3 weeks prior but 31-34 and about 80-90% humidity friends said quit complaining had you been here earlier you would know what real heat was. Took about a week to get acclimatized to the hot weather and then is started to get cooler each week so now we are at like 26-28 and 40-50 % humidity so much cooler. We have been playing pickle ball and golfing as well as out for several birthdays and dinners with friends so have been very busy since we got here. We were invited out to US thanksgiving with our friends Tim and Sue and there were 18 of us and feasted on traditional Turkey and or Ham was so good was stuffed for 2 days. Also went on a sunset cruise for our friend Jacki's Birthday was a tad rough but we still had some laughs and fun snack foods.
Well we will send out another update in a couple weeks and will try not to slow getting to it like this one.
